When Daddy's Away...

...the family must play!

Daniel went to his annual work conference in San Diego last week. Thankfully, our week without him went very quickly and included a visit from Grandma Shoemaker!

Noah let me know he "shared some blocks with Sissy". I walked into the room to find ALL of the blocks around Lyla! She was happy. :)

Noah still loves to help me cook and bake. This time it was chocolate zucchini muffins with white chocolate chips. Yum!

Then we got to spend an evening at the Magic House where Noah got to play construction worker, with bubbles, serve up pizza, and play doctor in the hospital baby nursery.

Climbing a tree house
Making bubbles

Being a mechanic and "fixin'" the tires may have been a highlight of the evening!

Fishing (not quite as fun as with Uncle Chris the week before!)

Prepping pizza.
Cooking pizza.
Baby nursery. I couldn't get him to stop long enough to get more pictures here (and it was crowded), but he loved dressing the baby, rocking the baby, feeding the baby, and here he was patting it to sleep and singing "Jesus Loves Me". Adorable. Such a loving boy.
Water play!
What a fun night!
And of course we had to send Daddy lots of pictures while he was gone....
....like how Noah developed a love of vacuuming (but only with the small vacuums...the big one still makes him whimper a bit...)

...and how cute Sissy was when she was sleeping (sorry you get Bubby's hand-me-down boy sleepers, little girl!) :)
...and to show him how much Lyla loves sleeping with this little lamb she has. It is a definite comfort item these days.
...and how Noah and Lyla loved their first time in the car shopping cart together!

...and another of how much Lyla loves Lamb.
...and of my sleeping buddy one night (Noah had a little trouble falling asleep while Daddy was gone...he was missing him terribly! So one night (after his two hours of crying off and on) I finally brought him to bed with me.
...and yet another pic of how much Lyla loves Lamb (we're not making this up, people.)
...and to prove to Daddy that we voted!
We had a fun week, but were thankful Daddy made it back home safely!

We had to take another trip to the Magic House to show Daddy how fun it was.
and this time Noah really enjoyed being a vet!

We also took a day to take Noah to go get fitted for a bicycle helmet (safety first!) so he can go riding with Daddy. (He was a little nervous, so had to borrow Lamb for a bit).
All smiles!
The weather has been gorgeous so we've loved being outside!
Love!

8 months!

Likes: Most solid foods, a pink lamb from the Dollar Tree that we can't seem to find a back up for (we're in trouble if we ever lose it!), music (she's starting to get a grooving dance move down)
Dislikes: Green beans, rolling into uncomfortable places

This little girl continues to make us smile every day. She is sitting fairly well, started waving the week of her "birthday", and is loving her transition to table foods. She is still rolling all over, sometimes ending up where she doesn't really want to be (across the bar under the jumper!) and is never found where we left her. She switched to a new daycare the week she turned 8 months (which had a rough start as the daycare failed to feed her both bottles two days....long story...) but is much better now after I had a heart-to-heart (and cry fest) with the director.

I had to throw this one in for when they're older! :) Sorry, kids!
Noah trying to make Lyla feel better.
Cheese!

And Noah's 8 month pic:
