The Waiting Game

We are at 38 weeks today. I don't have any big news. I don't even really have any cute pictures. Just updating because I haven't in a while and so you don't think you are missing out on fun happenings in the life of a Sampson. The 37 week appointment went well--Lyla continues to measure right on track, her heartbeat is strong and steady, and my weight gain continues to be minimal (a total of 5.5 pounds so far...it's strange...I blame chasing an active almost 2.5 year old...) I'm feeling more exhausted by the end of the day and have taken to putting my feet up instead of cleaning house. That bugs me, but I can't help it. I'm so very thankful for my mom who came this week to help with final preparations...sorting baby clothes and organizing closets, cleaning the neglected house, cooking a few a lot of meals for the freezer. She's a champ and has a heart of gold. Daniel and I even got to escape for a much-needed date night while she was here to love on Noah.

Noah is keeping us entertained in the meantime. He has been avoiding or severely limiting the length of his naps about 50% of the time recently...today he spent 2 hours and 5 minutes playing in his bed and talking and singing to himself before I finally got him up. Then he promptly fell asleep in the car an hour later as we drove to the grocery store two miles down the street. I am hoping this is a habit that won't continue after Baby's arrival or I will never get daytime rest! He continues to love "school", church, and his buddy Cole. His favorite TV shows and movies are Cars and Paw Patrol. He is on a jag of eating limited foods and amounts at supper, but makes up for it at breakfast. He loves "scaring" Daddy (coming around a corner and screaming, "Roar!"), sitting by Mommy (with an accompanying, "I sit by you today!"), "helping" in any way he can, and anything with wheels (though Mater, Lightening McQueen, and Thomas the train are the top picks). We love having him around!

First time sleeping in a big bed (a full size) at Mark and Emily's house.
On the way to get groceries after refusing a nap.
Have a happy Thanksgiving!!

Family Pictures

Here are some of our favorites! And some that didn't quite turn out but I have to include just cause it's funny.

This is a fantastic Daddy. One who will ride your toddler's bike when he asks him to and races him around the yard.

My parents came last weekend and helped Daniel move furniture and get things organized. Our guest room is now in the basement, Noah got moved to a "big boy room", and the nursery is set up for Lyla. I'm so thankful for all of the hard work they put in to help me feel settled and ready for the baby!
